02/10/2010:
Palm Harbor Homes, Inc. and its wholly-owned modular home subsidiary, Nationwide Homes, Inc. ("Nationwide") today announced that they will be joining ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for an upcoming build later in February. This will be the first time the popular television program has featured a home built with modular construction during its intense one-week build time. Although the name of the family and the location of the home site cannot be released until February 21, one of five deserving families in west central Georgia has been selected as the recipient for a new Nationwide modular home and a life changing event.
As long-time national builders of modular homes, Nationwide and Palm Harbor Homes are perfectly aligned to assist Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with this important, time-sensitive task. Building and delivering a high quality home with extreme customization in one week is a routine part of the job for this homebuilder. Because these homes are built in environmentally-protected building centers with constant quality checks and then transported to the final home site, rain and other weather delays do not impact the build schedule. This inherently green construction method and the other green features built into the home are expected to give the home both an ENERGY STAR qualification and the National Association of Home Builders Green Certification. This means that this home will have lower utility costs when compared to a typical home built to accepted state and local building standards.
Ron Powell, President of Manufacturing for Palm Harbor Homes, explained, "We love building homes for families, and having this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a deserving family is a special assignment for us. We are proud and excited to be the first modular company to work with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in their mission to improve the lives of families across our country. We are also grateful for the outpouring of generosity from our builders, sponsors, associates and many others who have already donated to this wonderful cause without even knowing the family."

Makeover: Home Edition. The Emmy award winning reality program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, now in its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
Nationwide Homes builds home for tornado victims
Nationwide Homes builds a modular home for a family that were victims of severe storms with tornados that destroyed their home.
"My wife and I had already chosen to build the "Tradition" with Lew Combs at Cornerstone Home Builders Inc. on our property in Chesterfield, VA before the event, but couldn't resist the chance to see our home in the plant being constructed. We took the plant tour and our home was about half way through the process. I am Nationwide's biggest advocate in our local area and after seeing the process up close, I really don't know why one would choose to build any other way. It literally is Henry Ford's assembly line all over again.
The build is a fulfillment of a life long dream of mine as it will be located on our property which has been handed down for five generations. We feel we are not just building a house, but a home that will become a part of our legacy and a permanent part of the landscape on our family farm. Thank you for helping to make that possible.
